The Covid-19 Pandemic has ringed the alarm bell of people's finances. It actually destroys a lot of people's livelihood.

Take a look at Warren Buffett's famous quote: "It's only when the tide goes out that you discover who's been swimming naked." 

A black swan event like the outbreak of the current coronavirus epidemic actually brings along with the moment of truth - whether you are well prepared financially for crises or not. The world is simply a jungle and the market is the punishment. If you failed to take care of your personal finance, you will finally be punished by the market.

Famous French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains. One man thinks himself the master of others, but remains more of a slave than they are."

That's particularly true when you think your boss is your "master" at work, however, in turn they have "masters" ahead of them too! After reading my last post about finance jargons, I believe you would have chosen to become a free man, at least financially, and free from being a "slave" to the 9-to-5 rat race.

To become financially-free, we must continually educate ourselves, and here comes the second part of basic finance jargons.

Having a healthy personal finance is one of the major pillars in leading a happy life.

Imagine a version of yourself in the parallel universe, living a 9-to-5 life, struggling to make ends meet every month. One day after work, when you take a glimpse on your bank account, there is only less than a hundred dollars left, and there is still a week to go before the next payday.......Would you be able to have sweet dreams during the nights?

And there's another version of yourself, still living a 9-to-5 life, however you only work for interest but not the money. Every month, a stash of cash appears on your table, the amount is good enough to cover all your living expenses.

Which version would you prefer to become your reality?

講起Blogger界的超級高手，相信無人不識 Starman兄，他的 Blog 及報導也讓唐勤追得如癡如醉，不能不佩服他爐火純青的資本及現金流操作技巧，而最近他的Blog在討論「證券化（Securitization）」。

這一個金融界的專有名詞，可能對於一般大眾都比較陌生，但這是聰明絕頂的金融機構所發明的一種財技。

Tom 很久也沒有執筆（其實現代寫作似乎已經不需要拿起筆），其實這幾個月來一直想寫作，礙於工作量有增無減，以後唯有盡量減少字數遷就時間，篇章盡量縮短。

看看上一篇文章，原來已經是2016年的事了，題目為「加辣」滿月後。今天是 2017年6月1日，距香港政府對樓市加辣後又過了半年。對於樓市的走勢，時間又證明了一切。

1,000萬，沒人管？

唐勤最近看到新聞，政府預計明年上半年推出俗稱「懶人基金」的「預設投資策略」（Default Investment Strategy），目標將現時強積金計劃成員如沒作出投資選擇，受託人會把其累算權益投資於「懶人基金」。

資料顯示，現有900萬個強積金戶口，當中約105萬個戶口約12%沒作投資指示，資產共約180億元，平均每個戶口約1.7萬元，有戶口只餘數元，但也有戶口資產竟達1,000萬元！

世上懶人何奇多，但竟然有1,000萬而不去管理等如斯奇事？

唐勤決定的起心肝，希望即使再忙也好，都要盡量抽時間寫作。

因為對於寫作，筆者愈來愈覺得是自我發掘的一種過程。通過寫作，可以對自己對過去的經驗溫故知新，同時發覺寫作某程度上對唐勤來說是減壓的一種方法。

在未來的日子裡，筆者想多從自己的過去經驗來著手寫作。雖然自己算不上投資高手，但畢竟從過去十多年的工作經驗中領略到一點點小知識，還望自我梳理一下以及和各位志同道合分享。

唐勤今天想分享有關投資的基本概念：「資金成本（Cost of Capital）」。
